Expert Strategies for College Admission 

Freshman and Sophomore Package
Getting started in the Freshman and Sophomore years is the best way to maximize the high school experience, and put students in the best position to get into the college of their dreams.  In these packages we provide the following:

  • Planning and Guidance
    • Create a plan for high school coursework and extracurricular activities
    • Ensure that students take full advantage of course offerings at their high school, and in some instances, consider academic opportunities outside of their school
    • Help students to apply their extracurricular and academic interests in novel ways, so as to deepen or broaden their experience in these pursuits
    • Maximize summer experiences
  • Scheduling
    • Begin to organize future testing schedule and college visits to avoid last minute scramble

The Freshman and Sophomore Packages also includes all of the services of the Junior and Senior Packages.


Junior Package
Our junior package provides a thorough description of the college admissions process and includes an evaluation of a student’s transcript and extracurricular activities as well as a standardized testing plan.  Junior year is the last chance for students to make meaningful changes that will influence their overall admission profile.  In this package the student will receive help with the following:

  • Academic Assessment 
    • Evaluate student’s transcript to date
    • Formulate a plan to either help the student maintain current level of performance or improve high school record
  • Extracurricular Profile Refinement
    • Evaluate extracurricular activities and achievements
    • Create specific opportunities for the student in the college admissions process based on extracurricular pursuits
  • College Selection
    • Develop a list of colleges to which the student will consider applying
    • Identify colleges to visit
    • Learn what to look for on college visits
  • Test Scheduling
    • Establish a standardized testing schedule
    • Explore test preparation strategies/classes
  • Letters of Recommendation
    • Decide which teachers the student will ask for recommendations
    • Learn how to approach the teachers for the best results
  • Interview Preparation
    • Prepare students for on campus and off campus interviews and meetings with admissions officers
    • Practice real interview questions and expert responses

The Junior Package also includes all of the services of the Senior Package.


Senior Package
The senior package is essential for students who want detailed help concerning the final parts of the college admissions process, as well as an assessment of their academic and extracurricular profile in order to refine the list of colleges that they are considering. In this package, we provide the following:

  • Evaluation and Selection
    • Assess student’s transcript and extracurricular profile to date
    • Review, evaluate and finalize college application selection
  • Development of a Plan
    • Determine remaining standardized testing schedule
    • Formulate an overall strategy for approaching college applications
  • Essay Advising
    • Brainstorm ideas
    • Serve as a sounding board for preliminary ideas
    • Review completed essay drafts
  • Application Review
    • Provide feedback on how to strengthen a student’s application
    • Identify any red flags or inconsistencies
    • Review essays and “brag sheet"
    • Help the student to present himself in the best possible light
  • Interview Preparation
    • Prepare for on campus and off campus interviews and meetings with admissions officers. 
    • Practice real interview questions and expert responses

 

Graduate School Package
Business School, Medical School, Law School, Graduate Masters and PhD Programs

The graduate school package is essential for students who want detailed help concerning the graduate school admissions process.  In this package, we provide the following:

  • Evaluation and Selection
    • Discuss student’s career goals and desires
    • Review, evaluate and finalize graduate program application selection
  • Development of a Plan
    • Determine remaining standardized testing schedule
    • Formulate an overall strategy for approaching applications
  • Essay Advising
    • Brainstorm ideas
    • Serve as a sounding board for preliminary ideas
    • Review completed essay drafts 
  • Interview Preparation
    • Prepare for interviews and meetings with faculty and admissions officers
    • Practice real interview questions and expert responses

Hourly Consultation
All of the packages above can be broken down for hourly consultation.  This way, students can utilize the International College Counselors services as much or as little as needed, and target those areas that they feel are most relevant to them.
